25 Question Holiday Survey!

in Other

I am normally not one to do surveys, but I saw this on Megan’s blog and thought it might be fun!  Feel free to answer these questions on your own blog/website! 🙂

25 Question Holiday Survey

1. Eggnog or hot chocolate?

Definitely hot chocolate!  I actually do not think that I have ever tried eggnog, but the thought of it is not the least bit appealing to me!  I mix my hot cocoa mix with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and a packet of Truvia…delicious!!

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?

Santa wraps the presents!  It is so much more fun to unwrap them.  I like the suspense!

3. Colored lights on the tree/house or white?

Generally speaking, I am a big fan of white lights.  There is just something about them that is really classy.  However, if colored lights are done tastefully then I enjoy them as well!

4. Do you hang mistletoe?

I do not…but maybe I should?? 😉

5. When do you hang your decorations up?

Usually, Christmas decorations go up the weekend after Thanksgiving.  This year, however, has been rather busy so the tree just got put up last week and some of the decorations will be hung sporadically this week.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?

My favorite holiday dish is either cheesy potato casserole (without cream of chicken soup of course!), green been casserole, or my Aunt Nancy’s recipe for fruit salad…so good!

7. What is your favorite holiday memory as a child?

I am not sure that I have a favorite memory(in fact, I don’t have a very good memory!!), but I have always enjoyed decorating the house with Christmas decorations and love playing games with my family on Christmas Eve and Christmas night.

8. What is on your Christmas wish list?

Essentially my Christmas list is centered around health, food, and fitness!  I want a pink GPS watch for walking/running, tons of kitchen items, and cookbooks.  I am trying to prep my future first kitchen with all the essentials.

9. Do you open gifts on Christmas Eve?

On occasion we do.  I remember one Christmas Eve where we opened all of our presents on Christmas Eve because we had a busy Christmas day out of town.  On other occasions we have opened one gift on Christmas Eve.  Generally, though, we open them on Christmas morning.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?

Our Christmas tree is fake (but looks surprisingly real).  We decorate it with white lights, gold sparkly twigs, and about a million ornaments.  I love seeing all of the old ornaments I had forgotten about within the year.

11. Snow? Love it or dread it?

I LOVE snow!…but hate being cold.  If only the two did not come together.  I do not, however, like snow when it arrives at inconvenient times, especially when I have travel plans.

12. Real tree or fake tree?

Fake!  It is just so much easier!

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?

I think that my most memorable favorite gift would be my first cell phone that I got when I was 15.  I was SO excited!

14. What’s the most important thing about Christmas for you?

Spending time with my family and close friends!  I also like being able to relax and forget about any stressful things within my life at the time.

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?

Sugar cookies, fudge, puppy chow, and pumpkin pie (it is so crazy to be able to say that since I never used to like it!).

16. What is your favorite tradition?

My favorite Christmas traditions include decorating the tree, playing games on Christmas Eve, and early morning after Christmas shopping for bargains with my mom and aunt.

17. What tops your tree?

Honestly, nothing!  At one point we bought a star for the tree but it was too heavy and kept falling over.  So for now, our poor tree top is bare!

18. Do you prefer giving or receiving?

Both!  I obviously love receiving gifts, but giving is so much fun too!  I cannot wait until my boyfriend opens his presents from me this year :).

19. What is your favorite Christmas song?

This is tough…I love White Christmas, O Holy Night, and Do You Hear What I Hear?  I am also loving Blake Shelton and Michael Buble’s Christmas remake of the song “Home” on Blake’s Christmas CD!

20. Candy canes…yuck or yum?

Yum!  I generally don’t like mint, but I like the peppermint candy canes.  I also especially love the fruit flavored candy canes.

21. Favorite Christmas movie?

Home Alone!  In fact, I plan on watching it on ABC Family tomorrow night.  I’m super pumped! 😉

22. What do you leave for Santa?

Nothing…sorry Santa! 🙁

23. Do you have a Christmas morning tradition?

Other than checking my stocking first thing and eating breakfast, mostly just lounging around and relaxing before opening gifts.

24. Do you prefer to shop on-line or at the mall?

I used to always think that I liked the thrill of shopping at the mall during Christmas time.  Lately, though, I have realized that that can be way too stressful and shopping online is so easy…a little too easy? 😉

25. Christmas letter or Christmas card?

I do not send either, but I love receiving both!

Feel free to answer any of the above questions yourself in the comment section!  I’d love to hear about your holiday traditions! 🙂

And finally, for those of you who were curious about where I have been lately…

Congratulations for all of your hard work! May you get the job of your dreams (or at least a job!)

Congrats, Hannah! That's a fantastic accomplishment! And I'm right there with you when it comes to the bare tree top. Growing up, my family always had an angel that meant so much to me. Now that I'm married, it's hard for me to just go out and buy something generic. *sighs* :) I may have to give up a little bit of that idealism though.

Thank you! It is exciting to be finished with school...for awhile anyways ;) That is totally understandable that you have a bare tree top. I must agree that it seems like so many of the tree toppers these days are very generic. That is probably another reason why ours has been bare for years!

Congratulations, Hannah!! You must feel so great right now! I can't think of a better way to wrap up the year! <3 Since you've never had eggnog, please please PLEASE try the So Delicious coconut milk version for me? I absolutely love it! I recently discovered their mint chocolate drink too, and (sshh!) *might* love it just as much. It's even sweetened with stevia! As for choosing between eggnog and hot chocolate: impossible. I love them both equally! Eee! I'm so excited Home Alone is on TV tomorrow night! It's one of my all-time favorite Christmas movies, too. :) xoxo

Thank you! I have seen that So Delicious eggnog version on many blogs and it definitely has me intrigued. I just might have to try it! Isn't Home Alone awesome? I think a lot of people forget about it being a great Christmas time movie!
